BMW Reveals New X4 Concept

BMW X4 Concept ProfileBMW has unveiled the new BMW X4, the latest in the ‘X’ range, set to join the X1, X3, X5 and X6.

Quite why BMW needs another ‘X’ car when the gap between the current cars is as wide as a penny, we don’t know, but it’s a reasonably handsome car and one that will sell in the tens of thousands if it goes into production as planned in 2014, so it’s probably worthwhile giving it some attention.

In the same way the X6 is a more coupé looking X5, the X4 is a coupé looking X3, built in the USA with an ‘urban sporting presence’.

There are literally no tech details to speak of, other than the fact the car is 4,648mm long, 1,915mm wide, 1,622mm tall and has a wheel base of 2,810mm.

Everything else is guesswork, but if it’s as closely related to the X3 as the X6 is to the X5, the usual X3 engines (3.5, 3.0, 2.0 and 1.8 litre diesels) will fit snugly under the bonnet.
