Fernando Alonso Drives the Ferrari 458 Italia Spider
Judging by his expression, he obviously enjoyed his drive, slinging the car from corner to corner on some Italian B roads near Modena.
The 458 Spider has the same, high revving 4.5 litre V8 as the coupé car, as well as the same gearbox and electronic differential.
0-60 mph takes only 3.4 seconds and its top speed is 4 mph less than the coupé at 198 mph.
The Spider sees a similar folding metal roof configuration as the California, changing the trend for mid engine Ferrari V8 supercars, like the F430 and 360, which both had folding soft tops.
You can also see a new dual pod engine cover, something done both to increase cooling and reduce drag, but also improve the car’s looks.
