First Photos of the Kia K9 Saloon

Kia has released its first official pictures of its new K9 saloon.

The K9, designed to compete with the likes of BMW and Audi, will be launched in Korea only, but if it proves successful the model may find its way to the UK and European market to sit alongside the recently launched Optima saloon.

Like all new Kias, the K9 has a more aggressive nose than Kias of old, and sits alongside the K7 and K5 (Optima).

Perhaps most importantly the K9 is Kia’s first attempt at a rear wheel drive saloon car, so if the interior is up to scratch, Kia could give the accepted German saloon makers serious problems.

Soon-Nam Lee, Director of Kia’s Overseas Marketing Group, said “the K9 is our first rear-wheel drive sedan, created without compromise in its design, driving performance and new technologies.

“K9 sets a whole new level of standards and values in the large sedan segment, and its design will be another Kia demonstration of our brand’s power to surprise.”
