Ford Focus ST to Star in ‘The Sweeney’

The new Ford Focus ST will be the star car in The Sweeney next year.

The Sweeney reinvents the popular 1970s police drama to a suit a modern audience.

Staring Ray Winstone and Ben Drew, the London based duo will be fighting new types of crime in a very different London, and they will be doing it in the new ST.

While some are saying it is simply a recipe for disaster, many say that making a small hot hatch the start of what may be a blockbuster can only be a good thing.

A 2 litre four-cylinder engine powers the new ST, meaning 250 bhp.

A Ford was the favourite for Director Nick Love, as the 70s show featured a range of Fords, including Granadas, Consuls and Cortinas.

Anthony Ireson, Ford Britain marketing director, said: “The new Focus ST is a hugely exciting car for Ford with terrific dynamic credibility. It will be a car for real driving enthusiasts”.
