Ford Mustang GT500 Gets 650 bhp

Ford has revealed the next generation Ford Mustang GT500 with a massive 600 bhp.

Torque output has been increased too, up by 90 lb/ft over the 2012 model, and up to 600 lb/ft.

The massive gains come from an increase in engine capacity from 5.4 litres to 5.8 litres, a new cooling system, updated camshafts, and the supercharger from the Corvette ZR1.

A carbon fibre drive shaft, updated six-speed manual gear box and updated clutch make the GT500 a more rewarding car to drive, and supposedly give it a top speed of 200 mph.

And the higher top speed means much bigger brakes: 6 piston Brembos at the front, and 4 piston Brembos at the back.

Two performance upgrades are available: The ‘Performance Package’, featuring a Torsen (Torque-sensing) limited slip differential, and Bilstein electronically variable dampers; The ‘Track Package’ includes an external oil cooler, transmission cooler, and differential cooler, launch control and Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres.

19 inch front wheels and 20 inch rear wheels are fitted with the Performance and Track packages.
