Historic Silver Arrows Return at Goodwood

Goodwood has confirmed that the Historic Mercedes Silver Arrows will be making an appearance at the 2012 Goodwood Revival, 75 years after their last demonstration.

Both the Silver Arrows and Auto Union Grand Prix cars will be performing between the 14th and 16th of September, including the Mercedes W25, W125, W154 and W165, and the Auto Union Type C and Type D cars.

Alongside the Mercedes cars will be those that competed against them, including a selection of Maseratis, Rileys, Bugattis and MGs.

Goodwood are dubbing the event as “one of the biggest things in historic motor sport for decades”.

“Piloted by world famous drivers, the Silver Arrows will stage a carefully choreographed ‘race’, alongside examples of the British and Continental ‘cannon fodder’ that raced against them in period – providing all the spectacle of a real race, but without risk to these priceless machines.”

With the cars comes an exact recreation of a pit lane from the period.
