Honda HR-V Road Trip To Scotland!

I’ve avoided driving all the way to Scotland for a long time for several reasons, the main two being you’re bound to spend loads of money on fuel and it takes somewhere between 6 and 8 hours to complete the drive if you manage to avoid getting caught up in any traffic. But I couldn’t avoid it forever, and the reward once you’re up in Scotland is a vast array of beautiful roads, so a top-spec Honda HR-V seemed like a good companion. What other SUVs can get 70mpg?

We set off at about 8am and made it to our destination in Scotland at 6pm. Keen mathematicians among you will have worked out that the journey took us 10 hours, but thankfully our trip was traffic free and the only reason for such a long journey time was the need to film.

And the car? It didn’t manage 70mpg, but then again we weren’t driving economically – I’m not going to do an 8 hour drive without air conditioning and heated seats etc. in the middle of winter or at 60mph to save fuel. We managed between 55-60mpg, and got out of the car feeling surprisingly relaxed. As it turns out, driving to Scotland isn’t as uncomfortable or as expensive as you might think if you take the right car.
