New Ford Focus ST Launched

For has finally launched the new Ford Focus ST, the replacement for Ford’s previous hot hatch, the RS.

It has 246 bhp and 265 lb/ft of torque from a 2.0 litre turbocharged engine, can get from 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds, and on to a top speed of 154 mph.

All cars will be fitted with a six-speed manual transmission with a very tall sixth gear, which Ford claims not only improves the top speed but also improves fuel efficiency, meaning the flagship Ford hot hatch can achieve 39 mpg and CO2 emissions of 169 g/km, supposedly a 20% improvement over the last ST.

Styling is different even from the current Ford Focus, and not only do owners get a new ‘unique twin hexagonal centreexhaust tailpipe’, but an exclusive ‘Tangerine Scream’ paint.

Weirdly, the ST can be bought not only as a five door but also as an estate, so Ford is clearly trying to make the fast cars even more usable.

Three trim levels are available: T1, T2 and T3. T1 starts at £21,995, and for that you get 18 inch alloy wheels, Recaro seats, and a DAB digital radio. T2 costs £23,495, giving you a few little branded extras and a part leather trim. Tope of the range is the T3, with which you get a full leather trim, heated front seats and Bi-Xenon headlamps, all for just £25,495.

Customers can also opt for a ‘Performance Pack’, which adds grey wheels and red brake calipers, and the ‘Driver Assistance Pack’, which adds things like Lane Change Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Sales start on the 1st of June, with the first cars dues to be delivered at the start of September.
