For fans of the fiat Panda who want a bit more of the styling from the 500, Fiat has introduced the 500L.

Due to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the ‘L’, as you’d imagine, stands for ‘Large’, so the interior is much more spacious and geared more towards those who would by an MPV rather than a small city car like the normal 500.

Although saying that, it does still only have five seats, so you’re not going to get any extra passengers in, despite the larger exterior and roomier inside.

Fiat say that it’s “for those who won’t settle for anything less than Italian style, the versatility that comes from a functional design and engine technology that sets the bar in terms of efficiency”, but essentially it really is just a big 500.

Previewed in Serbia, the car won’t make it to Europe until the end of 2012, and when it does just two petrol engines – the super-economical TwinAir and  the 500’s 1.4-litre – and one turbodiesel – the 1.3 MultiJet II.
