Orders Open for Vauxhall Ampera

Orders have opened for the new Vauxhall Ampera which is due to be in showrooms by May, and released the specifications and prices.

Prices will start at £29,995 for the most basic version, which still comes with a DAB radio, 7-inch touch-screen control monitor, cruise control and alloy wheels.

The next trim level up is the Positiv, which comes with an all leather interior, heated front seats and front/rear parking sensors with a rear-view camera; prices start at £32,250.

The top of the range Electron comes with all the features seen in lower models, as well as a Colour touch screen, voice controlled satnav system, Bose Energy Efficient Series sound system, DVD player, 30GB hard drive and an inbuilt phone.

Vauxhall offer a lifetime/100,000 mile warranty with the Ampera, as well as an 8 year battery warranty, so if the batter goes for whatever reason in the first 8 years, whether you charge it too much or the battery has a genuine fault, Vauxhall will supply a new one free of charge.

An ‘Ampera Agent’ is also offered to every customer as part of a scheme named ‘MyAmpera’, which gives owners a phone number to their own personal helper at Vauxhall’s head office.

The electric motor offers the equivalent of 148 bhp, meaning 0-60 mph takes just over 9 seconds.

Duncan Aldred, Vauxhall’s MD, said: “We’re breaking completely fresh ground with the Ampera. The technology is obviously unique in a production car, but it’s the level of personalised customer support we’re offering that will be just as important to owners.

“‘MyAmpera’ reinforces this personalisation and will help us engage with our new owners throughout their time with the car.”

Vauxhall reminds customers that prices are inclusive of the governments £5000 electric vehicle grant.
